Our Mission:

H.O.R.S.E. Helping Others Reach Success & Excellence by combining the healing power of horses with highly trained professionals to deliver alternative therapeutic services to people in need of mental, emotional and physical assistance.

Many children attend some sort of group therapy of group learning environment.  H.O.R.S.E. offers traditional group subjects in a group setting that is anything but ordinary.

H.O.R.S.E. offers group sessions with the following topics:

Social skills & relationship Building

Autistic children and “typical” children come together in an environment that fosters learning about relationships, communication and how to interact in a socially acceptable manner with both those close to you and in the community at large.

Emotional Awareness & Expression

Often referred to as “Anger Management” by others, this group goes beyond just anger.  Today’s youth often are not even aware of what emotions they are feeling, they frequently just react.  This group helps kids learn to identify all emotions as they are occurring and learn good choices of how to respond and express their emotions in a healthy manner.

Self Esteem & Self Confidence

Some experts say that low self esteem and low self confidence are two of the leading causes of depression and behavioral difficulties.  This group helps kids learn the difference between the two and improve both – helping kids feel good about themselves and their abilities to manage in a world that can often be confusing, challenging and difficult.

Problem Solving & Making Good Choices

Decision making and problem solving, closely relate but different in many aspects.  Every day kids are faced with dozens of choices and a multitude of problems.  Some are simple…parents want their children to brush their teeth, do their homework, clean their room…each child has a choice about whether to comply, argue, refuse or take some other action.  Other choices are not so simple…”Which peer group should I hang out with?’ “What classes do I take in school?” “Do I want to be that person’s friend badly enough to engage in drinking and/or drugs?”  This group has the participants engage in problem solving activities with the horses and the group learns about problem solving methods and manners in which to make good choices on a variety of levels and in a variety of ways to work in the real world.  Added bonus…they practice them in a very real way!
