H.O.R.S.E. Focus

H.O.R.S.E. Focus is designed for children and youth adults that are diagnosed with any form of Autism and children under the age of ten.  The client works with the horse by engaging in horse related activities that stimulate each client on several levels.  Each client is stimulated socially, mentally, emotionally and physically.  Tailored for each client’s individual needs the therapy team guides sessions with the client to work on relationships, communication, emotional expressions, and mental health issues.  The program has some elements of Hippotherapy therefore improving the physical being as well.  The client’s central nervous system is stimulated by the movement of the horse to work more effectively, enabling each client to absorb and utilize new knowledge and new skills.  Autistic persons are accepted as young as 5 years of age upon initial evaluation.  There is no upper age limit, but there is an initial evaluation of acceptability.  Younger children ages 5-10 who do not carry an autistic diagnosis but are showing early signs of emotional or behavioral concerns can also benefit from this program.  We offer this program with a specially trained facilitator and trained volunteers or if desired a licensed psychotherapist and a specially trained facilitator working. 
Camp Round Up
Day camp with a western themed specifically designed for children 8-18 diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum.  Children not diagnosed with Autism but who struggle with mild cognitive challenges, sensory integration issues, social skills and learning disabilities are welcome to apply for camp as well.  Camp is designed to help campers with social skills and relationships, works with sensory issues and communication all while learning new skills with horses and people and having a lot of fun!  Other traditional camp activities include fishing, hiking, crafts, field games and more!

H.O.R.S.E. Talk

H.O.R.S.E. Talk is a psychotherapy program is designed for the child/teenager or adult who struggles with emotional, mental and behavioral difficulties. A short term (10-15 sessions) intense program, H.O.R.S.E. Talk assesses problems quickly and helps each person find effective solutions and improves mental and emotional health and improves behavioral problems. This program is for persons age 10 and up, featuring individual, group and family weekly sessions. We offer this program with a licensed psychotherapist and a specially trained facilitator working together as a team.

H.O.R.S.E. Partnership Naturally

(HPN) is a facilitated-horsemanship program for the child/adult who either loves horses or needs a longer term program for continued emotional growth and behavioral improvement. In HPN the person works on life skills (problem solving, relationships, etc…) and a variety of emotional issues while learning about horses. This program is ideal for people who struggle with low self esteem, difficulty making good choices, lack of self confidence, learning disabilities, relationship problems, depression and anxieties. This program stands alone or often can be utilized as a follow-up program to H.O.R.S.E. Talk. HPN is open to persons of all ages in individual weekly sessions. We offer this program with a specially trained facilitator or if desired a licensed psychotherapist and a specially trained facilitator.

Day Groups

H.O.R.S.E. offers special day groups as field trips for elementary school classes or special day groups designed for middle and high school students.  Elementary field trips engage the children in fun exercises with the horses that teach children about problem solving, working together, communication, relationships, and making good decisions all while learning about horses.  Middle and high school groups are similar but more intense and offer specially designed as an adjunct to on-going groups facilitated by school counselors and social workers.

On-going Groups for High Risk Students

H.O.R.S.E. works with school counseling departments and school social workers to develop programs that target the mental health of students to help them perform at their highest level and increase their chances of graduation, being successful in their families and communities.  Groups can target such issues as problem solving, critical thinking, self esteem, self confidence, self control, suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention, anger management and children in at risk families.  Groups generally run 10 weeks with one week sessions approximately 90 minutes.
